May 2024, Zenith Tattoo had the immense honor of hosting our very first art show, a heartfelt event dedicated to keeping the memory of Jose Sanchez alive and bringing our community closer together. The atmosphere was electric as we welcomed numerous talented artists and community members who came to share this special experience and contribute to a worthy cause.
A Celebration of Art and Unity
The event was a remarkable success, showcasing a diverse range of artistic expressions. Artists participated in various ways—some were present in person, while others sent their art, donated pieces, or helped organize the event. The collective effort was awe-inspiring, and the sense of community was palpable.
Supporting Charro’s Family
One of the core purposes of this event was to raise funds for Charro’s family. The outpouring of support was truly heartwarming, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed. For those who couldn’t make it to the event, we still have some artwork available for purchase at our studio, with all proceeds going to support our dear friend’s family.
A Message from @ricardocamargo.art
One of the highlights of the evening was a poignant message from Ricardo Camargo, which encapsulated the spirit of the event:
“Jose Sanchez had the vision of creating a show to unite the young tattoo artist community, providing a space to strengthen our connections and recognize the best-emerging artists. We aim to join this community and open doors for artists of all ages, creating a bridge in the tattoo industry between the young and the veterans. This allows for the exchange of ideas and experiences, strengthening the community and ensuring the progress of tattooing and its roots.
Charro left us too soon, but he left behind his legacy and the spark that motivated the remake of this art show. This event allows us to build connections between artists from different generations, helping and strengthening the tattoo industry and the cultural movement and allowing everyone to embrace the magic of tattoo art.
What we do gives us a chance to be who we are and allows us to recognize our vital role in the community as vehicles for this artistic expression, representing everything from cultural bonds to a visual language of style in our society.”
Capturing the Magic
We were fortunate to have @andrewaguilarphotography document the event, capturing the essence and energy of the evening. The photos and videos serve as a beautiful reminder of the community spirit and the artistic vibrancy that Jose inspired.
Special Thanks to Our Sponsors
We couldn’t have done it without the generous support of our amazing sponsors:
- MAG: Conducted an incredible raffle and provided fantastic prizes for the three winners of the competition. This family-run business in the Los Angeles tattoo industry made a huge impact on our event.
- Bishop: This major tattoo supply brand supported us immensely by donating three tattoo machines and various goodies for our community.
- Coleccion Privada: This group of collectors always brings culture and its importance to the tattoo and art industry. Their presence, along with their amazing low riders, truly enhanced our event.
- ColorDragon: Supported us by providing needles for the winner and additional supplies for other participating artists.
A special shoutout to Alpha Seven, owned by Jeronimo Casasola, and Sacred Gallery Tattoo, owned by Epimenio Buelna. Nothing would have been possible without their unwavering support and partnership.
Thank You, Everyone!
A huge thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and supported this event in any capacity. Your contributions made this event a success and helped keep Jose’s vision and memory alive. Together, we have taken a step towards uniting our community and fostering a supportive environment for both emerging and seasoned artists.
We invite everyone to visit our studio, view the remaining artwork, and continue supporting Charro’s family. Let’s keep the spirit of unity and artistic expression alive, just as Jose envisioned.
Stay tuned for more events and opportunities to connect, create, and celebrate the art of tattooing.
